Santora, McGarrigle Announce Business and Job Growth Coming to Clifton Heights
CLIFTON HEIGHTS – Because of the efforts of Rep. James R. Santora (R-Delaware) and Sen. Tom McGarrigle (R-Chester/Delaware), who partnered with Gov. Tom Wolf, Clifton Heights will directly benefit from the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. The borough will receive funding that was previously paid federally.

“This money will bolster the redevelopment currently in process in Clifton Heights by attracting business owners looking for opportunities to profitably serve the community,” Santora said. “What a win to claim money that is being paid anyway for the direct benefit of our area.”

As Clifton Heights was named an opportunity zone, all capital gains taxes paid for the sale of private property will be reinvested into the borough in many ways, including streetscapes and improved lighting.

“Clifton Heights was not originally named an opportunity zone, but Rep. Santora and I knew how much this funding could help to revitalize the area. We are thankful that the conversations we had with Gov. Wolf about the importance of Clifton Heights being included will benefit the people who live and work in Clifton Heights – and the ones who will in the future,” McGarrigle added.

Since the Opportunity Zones initiative offers flexibility with how the money can be spent, priorities will be identified locally, with personalization offering the greatest benefit.

“I thank both Rep. Santora and Sen. McGarrigle for advocating for Clifton Heights, and I look forward to seeing how businesses and family-sustaining jobs come to the borough as it is infused with this money. This is a great example of how private companies and residents can help their own communities,” said Clifton Heights Mayor Joseph Lombardo.
